IPL 8 or, Pepsi IPL 2015 was held in 2015. Eight teams contested the competition between April 8, 2015, and May 24, 2015. On April 7, 2015, the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata hosted the opening ceremony of the tournament. Having won the championship in the previous season of 2014, the Kolkata Knight Riders claimed the title.
The Mumbai Indians triumphed in the IPL championship for the second time on May 24, 2015, by beating the Chennai Super Kings by 41 runs in the final at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Rohit Sharma earned the player of the match award for his 50 off 26 balls in the final. The Kolkata Knight Riders’ Andre Russell received the season’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. Before the Star Sports Network purchased the broadcasting rights of the eighth season and currently hosts the tournament, Sony Television Network last broadcast the competition.
