The 2013 Indian Premier League tournament or IPL 6 or Pepsi IPL 2013, marked the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League, which was established by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) established in 2007. The competition was held between April 3rd and May 26th, 2013, and nine teams participated. The inaugural ceremony took place at Kolkata’s Salt Lake Stadium on 2nd April 2013, and PepsiCo served as the title sponsor for the first time that season. The Kolkata Knight Riders, who had won the 2012 season, were the previous season’s champions. The Mumbai Indians clinched the championship for the first time.

When questioned regarding the increased sponsorship fee in relation to DLF’s, a spokesperson for PepsiCo stated, “Our calculation is that we are going to get five or six times the value of what we paid.” Brand Finance, however, estimated that the brand value of the IPL fell from 4.1 billion USD in 2010 to 2.9 billion USD in 2012, basing its judgment on the dip in television ratings during the period. PepsiCo became the title sponsor from the 2013 season, succeeding DLF Ltd, which did not renew its contract after their first five-year deals, for INR 2.50 billion, expired with the last season.
